Your Questions Answered
Common questions regarding our dual-adhesive systems, medical-grade materials, and local Napier-based shipping.
-
Most generic tapes use industrial acrylic adhesives that leave a sticky residue and can irritate the skin. We use medical-grade Henkel silicone for our mouth tape. It’s designed for a "gentle release," meaning it stays secure all night but peels off without mess or pain, even if you have facial hair.
-
No. We use a purpose-built medical-grade Henkel acrylic adhesive for our nasal strips. Because the nose requires a stronger mechanical lift to keep airways open, we chose a higher-bond material that can handle the tension and moisture of a full night's sleep.
-
Our mouth tape is specifically designed with a slim profile and silicone adhesive to minimize contact with facial hair. Unlike oversized "bandage-style" tapes, our vertical-tension design focuses on the lips, not the surrounding skin.
-
Yes, and that’s exactly why we use different materials for different areas. The skin on the lips and around the mouth is much thinner and more reactive than the skin on the nose. By using medical-grade Henkel silicone for our mouth tape, we ensure a hypoallergenic, "gentle-release" bond that won't cause the redness or irritation common with generic, high-tack adhesives.
For the nose, we use a premium acrylic that provides the mechanical lift needed for airflow, but we recommend applying it to clean, dry skin to ensure it stays secure without needing excessive pressure -
While medical "paper" tape is a common DIY starting point, it isn't designed for the face or for daily use. Standard medical adhesives are engineered to stay on for days at a time; when used nightly, they can strip the skin’s natural oils and lead to chronic irritation and a buildup of adhesive residue that's harsh on the skin's barrier.
O2Sync™ is a specialized tool, not a repurposed bandage. By using Henkel silicone, we provide a "gentle-release" bond that respects the skin barrier, allowing for consistent nightly use without the cumulative damage or mess of industrial-grade medical adhesives.

Mouth tape is a "structural cue" to encourage nasal breathing, not a permanent seal. Our slim design allows for emergency mouth breathing if necessary, but the goal is to stabilize the jaw to keep the nasal circuit active. If you have a completely blocked nose, consult a professional before use.
-
For maximum "spring," ensure your nose is clean and dry. Apply the strip just above the flare of each nostril. The high-bond Henkel adhesive will do the rest, physically widening the space in your nasal passage.
-
Our adhesives are medical-grade for single use to ensure maximum hygiene and bond strength. However, the silicone mouth tape is repositionable if you don't get the placement right the first time or if you want to temporarily take it off for a sip of water in the middle of the night.
-
We’ve moved away from the "full-seal" approach for two reasons: safety and efficiency. O2Sync™ is designed as a structural cue for the jaw and lips, not a permanent blockage. Our slim-profile, vertical-tension design provides a secure seal to maintain nasal breathing throughout the night, but purposely leaves the corners of the mouth clear.
This ensures that in the event of a cough or a necessary deep breath, you can still breathe through the sides of your mouth without needing to rip the tape off. It provides the physiological benefits of nasal breathing without the claustrophobia or risk of a total seal.
